What a great day for Nashville and Middle Tennessee. I participated in my third Country Music 1/2 Marathon this morning. The weather was awesome with not a cloud in the sky. It was a hot one and the only regret I have is that I didn’t properly hydrate myself. In the end I finished a couple of minutes behind last year’s pace so I have a lot of work to do in preparation for next year’s event. Thanks to all the volunteers for making it another great event. If you know someone who ran today congratulate them on a job well done.
I’m gearing up for my third Country Music Marathon this Saturday. Today I stopped by the Nashville Convention Center and picked up my race number and goodie bag. The whole process was much easier this year as the line moved a lot faster. I also enjoyed checking out the latest in running gear and equipment from the various exhibitors at the Health and Fitness Expo. This is 10th Anniversary of the Country Music Marathon and it promises to be the best yet. The event today was first class and the CMM staff including volunteers are to be commended for their good work. Looking forward to Saturday.
Just got word a couple of hours ago that the Bryant Fund has surpassed the $15,000 in donations mark. This is a great example of social media at work on many levels. Chris Ennis a friend of the Bryant family launched the campaign drive via Twitter just over a week ago. Other twitter users and organizations in the Twitterverse noticed the tweet and the retweeting commenced in earnest. It’s great to see the support the family has gotten so far. John still needs our help to pay for his medical expenses so please take a second to donate as every little bit counts.
The Country Music Marathon is set for this Saturday in Nashville. This will be my third year in a row running the 1/2 marathon. The goal is to run the full next year. Reaching the finish line each time is such a fulfilling reward for all the training that’s involved. I’ll post my thoughts on the race sometime over the weekend. If you know someone running in the event wish them well.
This past Friday Murfreesboro, Tennessee received a direct hit from a F3 tornado that caused major damage to the area. One family in particular was hit the hardest as a man lost his wife and newborn baby daughter. The family needs your help to cover medical expenses for John and memorial services for his late wife Kori and baby girl Olivia. A fund has been set up at Bank of America. Simply go to Bryant Fund to contribute. Please take a minute to help out a family in need.
